We had a wonderful 4th of July weekend celebrating our independence with family and friends. Our city organizes an annual 4th of July Celebration with three days of activities planned - carnival rides, games, food, great music, kiddie parade, 4th of July parade and of course fireworks! Since Steve is on the fire department he 'worked' at many of the activities. I continue to be amazed at watching Gracie experience everything - the pure joy on her face the entire weekend was the best part!

This is my favorite picture from the weekend - (if you look closely) Gracie waving the American flag with pictures from the fire department in the background. We are so proud of Steve and the commitment he has made to everyone he serves through the fire department!

The week leading up to the 4th my mom, sister and I took on the challenge of making Martha Stewart's Firecracker cookies. They were so fun to make and turned out great!

Gracie and I on the merry-go-round.

The Kiddie Parade was the best part of the weekend. Steve and I were practically giddy as we decorated Gracie's wagon. The excitement of being parents!!! Gracie was lucky enough to have her cousin, Olivia, ride with her. Of course the best part for Olivia was handing out candy to all the people watching her in the parade. All the kids in the parade were SOOOO excited to be in their own parade - it was just awesome!

Gracie and Olivia also got to enjoy watching the 4th of July parade. The picture below was their standard expression - pointing to and clapping at everything that came by.

Of course, our favorite part was when all the fire trucks drove by and Gracie got to see "Daddy" in the parade.

And who could forget, our wonderful Captain!
